East Meets West is an ongoing personal project that reimagine the Pepsi Campaign on #BetterwithPepsi and their latest logo/design in 2023, on the basis of a more inclusive marketing effort. The project also explores the potential of a new product flavor for Pepsi Cola.
︎︎︎#BetterWithPepsi features food pairing with Pepsi Cola and Pepsi Zero Sugar. However, both the food and the people involved here lacks Asian identity. Image Courtesy: PepsiCo
︎︎︎Here shows the limited edition Pepsi Zero Karaage Senyo Cola in Japan in 2022 and 2023 Summer. This “Pepsi Zero Cola Exclusively for Use with Fried Chicken” features a more subtle scent and sweetness to bring out the flavor of the fried chicken. It’s cuisine-specific, calorie-free, and flavor-enhancing. Dietary fiber has also been added to reduce oiliness of the fried chicken. The transparent soda appears lighter in taste, more like water.

︎︎︎One of the marketing graphics for Pepsi’s new logo in 2023 (on left); Meme about Asians complimenting desserts (on right).
︎︎︎Combining the two ideas together, we can produce a not-too-sweet cola to bring the flavor of the #BetterWithPepsi food (with the prescedent of the Japan version), and at the same time paying a homage how and why Pepsi drink was invented back in 1893 - to aid in digestion.
︎︎︎Color studies of different Pepsi packaging across the world - Pepsi #NotTooSweet should take a color between the original Pepsi and Diet Pepsi; while Pepsi Zero Sugar #NotTooSweet should take a color between the original Pepsi blue and the black Pepsi Zero Sugar.

︎︎︎ Mock up for potential #BetterwithPepsi advertisements at Chinatown, featuring Chongqing Spicy Hotpot, Wonton Noodle Soup, and Stir-Fried Crab with Ginger and Scallions, all of these go well with Pepsi Cola.
︎︎︎We can celebrate #BetterwithPepsi by displaying both Western and Eastern food: French Fries vs Chinese Spicy Fried Sliced Potato; Burger vs Hong Kong-Style Stir-fried Beef Flat Noodle; Southern Fried Chicken vs Korean Fried Chicken. The list goes on and on.

"We designed the new brand identity to connect future generations with our brand’s heritage, marrying distinction from our history with contemporary elements to signal our bold vision for what’s to come."
